At the airport i found out that we were on a flight to Sydney and that we had a connecting flight out of sydney to a place called Maroochydore. Obviously it's a pretty small destination and so i had no idea where or what this place was going to be and my Australia guidebook didn't list it either.
Upon arrival at Maroochydore it was sunny and relatively warm, about in the 70's....James went over to a bus service and talked to some guy about transfering us to our accomodation. I milled around the airport and looked at the tourist info stuff. Then we went outside and got on the bus. While on the bus James handed me a key that he said he had gotten from the bus service guy. And then he told me that he had booked a "secret destination" with Expedia.com and really had no idea where we were staying. He said that the owner of the place described it as having 4 theme rooms but that you didn't know which one you were going to get until you arrived. The theme rooms were: a hippie room, a posh room, a sporty room and a beach scene room. He said that he really hoped we didnt get the hippie room because he was afraid that it would smell of pachoulie. I just kept shrugging my shoulders and playing along as i had a feeling something was up and he was trying to lead me astray.
As the bus was letting people off at their hotels we were driving through a cute town with shops and restaurants. Everything had a sort of beachy/surfer vibe so at that point i had figured out that we were heading to the ocean. Soon we were driving past the sheraton in a place called Noosa and James is starting to look a bit worried. After inquireing about the look on his face he proceeds to tell me that this area looks pretty flash and that he was worried since the place he booked was only 59$ a night. But if worse came to worse we could spend 5 nights there (which he said was the minimum) and then find other accomodations for the last 2 nights. I just kept shrugging my shoulders and smiling.
Finally we drove through a very nice part of the town called Hastings street which had some very nice shops including one of my clothing favs Kookai. The bus driver pulled over and looked at us and said you guys are staying in a pretty flash place....so of course by this point i was very very curious as to what was going on. Turns out Brad's family lent us their beautiful apartment for the week. The place was absolutely incredible, perfect location, state of the art appliances, 3 bed, 3 bath just gorgeous. Here are the pics :)
I didn't take a picture of the master bedroom as we failed to make the bed every day....haha We're on VACATION ;)
So that was our pad for the week, no log cabin or sharing a house at all. James is so sly!
